The Town of Topsham is seeking an experienced candidate for the position of Town Planner. This is a full-time position responsible for municipal planning functions, including the development and implementation of the Town’s Comprehensive Plan, Capital Improvements Plan, and other planning documents. Work involves land use planning; provision of technical assistance to the Planning Board and related boards/committees; research, developing, coordinating, and administering land use and planning related projects, and community development projects; and considerable public contact. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Planning and Codes Director and is reviewed through discussion, reports, and results.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate exceptional interpersonal skills and a commitment to developing strong, positive working relationships. A candidate who exhibits patience, transparency, and a commitment to teamwork will be valued, as will one who is able to work both collaboratively and assertively. Candidates for this position will be expected to have extensive knowledge of Planning and Development and must exhibit excellent communication and presentation skills.
